CHED Scholarship Abroad for Masteral and Doctoral: How to Apply?




Manila Philippines - The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) through CMO No. 22 Series of 2016 announced that applicants may avail its scholarship program and study their Masteral and Doctoral degrees any higher educational institution abroad. The program grants partial or full scholarship for all selected applicants during the K-12 transition period.

As extracted from the CMO, a grantee for Masters' degree can be awarded with a maximum 1,000,000 worth of scholarship expense while 2,000,000 for Doctorate degree plus an opportunity to study at HEIs in United States, Europe, Asia, among others.

Partial Masteral and Doctoral Foreign Scholarship

In CHED partial payment scheme, scholars who have already admitted in top ranking HEI abroad but lacks financial resources for tuition fee, accommodation and other expenses might select this option.

CHED has already approved the first batch of applicants and now ready to accept applicants for second batch.

Full Masters and Doctorate Foreign Scholarship

CHED has partnered with British Council to offer the Newton PH.D Programme. Applicants has a chance to study in United Kingdom in full expense of the commission given that all requirements and thorough selection process are met. Prospective scholars may now apply at the Newton College Ph.D Program which offer grants for doctoral studies for early career researchers in the identified priority fields. For details, applicants can directly apply at the British Council website.

Meanwhile, CHED is constantly updating the list of available scholarships abroad and foreign established partnerships. Shall there be additional schools, it will also be posted at this article.

The above are just two of the main programs being offered by CHED to those who wants to study abroad. They also offer below programs for foreign scholarships.

Start-up Grant for Foreign Studies Application

Prospective scholars who wants to continue further studies abroad but are constrained by high expenses for examinations such as Graduate Record Examination (GRE), Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and International English Testing System (IELTS) may apply at this scholarship program.

Ph.D Sandwich Program

Scholars who have already completed their coursework at Philippine-based HEI may conduct a maximum of one year of dissertation in a host HEI abroad and return to home HEI for completion of the work.
