#WalangPasok: Class Suspensions October 17, 2016 (Monday)

MANILA, Philippines – Class suspensions on October 17, 2016 (Monday) are announced at certain areas by Local Government Units (LGUs) due to effects of bad weather conditions brought by typhoon “Karen”.

As of 3:00 PM, below is the list of areas with class suspensions on Monday, October 17, 2016.


Metro Manila

  • Muntinlupa – All levels (Public and Private)

Provinces

  • Baler, Aurora – All levels (Public and Private)
  • Hermosa, Bataan – All levels (Public and Private)
  • Cagayan – All levels (Public and Private)
  • Cavite – Preschool to Elementary (Public and Private)
  • Calumpit, Bulacan – All levels (Public and Private)
  • Guiginto, Bulacan – All levels (Public and Private)
  • Malolos, Bulacan – Preschool to Highschool (Public and Private)
  • Angeles City, Pampanga – All levels (Public and Private)
  • Guagua, Pampanga – Preschool to Highschool (Public and Private)
  • Mexico, Pampanga – Preschool to Highschool (Public and Private)
  • San Fernando, Pampanga – All levels (Public and Private)
  • Pangasinan – All levels (Public and Private)
  • Tarlac – Preschool and Elementary (Public and Private)
  • Nueva Ecija – All levels (Public and Private)
  • Nueva Vizcaya – Preschool to Highschool (Public and Private)

Meanwhile, cancellation of classes for colleges and universities will be at discretion of school officials/ administrators.

PAGASA WEATHER UPDATE

According to PAGASA weather update issued at: 5:00 AM, 16 October 2016,

At 4:00 AM today, the eye of Typhoon “KAREN” was located based on all available data in the vicinity of Alfonso Castaneda, Nueva Vizcaya (15.8ºN, 121.3ºE) with maximum sustained winds of up to 150 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 210 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 22 kph.

Stormy weather with rough to very rough seas is expected over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Ilocos region and the provinces of Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Southern Isabela, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Rizal, Camarines Norte and Quezon including Polillo Islands. Rains with gusty winds will prevail over Abra, Kalinga, rest of Isabela, Southern Apayao, Southern Cagayan, Oriental Mindoro, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Marinduque and Camarines Sur. Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will be experienced over Western Visayas, the rest of Luzon and the province of Cebu. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over Mindanao and the rest of Visayas.              

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southeast to east will prevail over the rest of Luzon and coming from southwest to south over the rest of the country. The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.
