LIST OF PASSERS: July 2017 Optometrist Board Exam Results




MANILA, Philippines – The July 2017 Optometrist board exam results together with the list of passers, top 10 examinees, top performing schools and related announcements will be available at this website soon as PRC officially released the results online two (2) working days after the last day of board examination. The licensure exams are administered by PRC Board of Optometry headed by its chairman, Dr. Teresita R. Yambot, and its members, Dr. Mary Rose S. Paredes, Dr. Maria Elizabeth B. Valconcha, Dr. Bernardita A. Garcia and Dr. Vivian S. Sarabia (inhibited) on July 17-19 (Written) and July 20-21, 2017 (Practical) at PRC testing center in Manila.

These important registration schedule and requirements shall be secured by a successful examinee.
  • The schedule of online appointment for issuance of Professional ID and Certificate of Registration will be announced by PRC.
  • Registration requirements: duly accomplished Oath Form, Notice of Admission (NOA), two (2) pieces of colored passport ID picture with white background and nametag and two (2) sets of doc stamps. 
PRC is strictly implementing the online registration system for processing of appointment for registration effective March 30, 2016, details of which are written here.

RELEASE DATE

According to the Commission’s Resolution No. 2016-1019 series of 2016 entitled “Schedule of Licensure Examination for Year 2017”, the target release date of July 2017 Optometrist board exam result will be in two (2) working days after the last day of board examinations or by July 25, 2017 (Tuesday). However, results may also be released earlier or later without prior notice.

On the same exams conducted by PRC on July 2016 and July 2015, results were released after three (3) working days.

EXAMINATION COVERAGE

The five days board exam for Optometrist (written) covered topics from Ocular Pharmacology 10%; Ocular/Visual Biology 10%; Primary Care and Refraction 15%; Practical, Theoretical and Opthalmic Dispensing including Contact Lenses 15%; Ocular Diseases and Ocular Emergencies 10%; Jurisprudence, Ethics and Practice Management 10%; Physiological Optics, Binocular Vision and Perception 15%; and Clinical Optometry and Specialty Areas in Optometry 15%.

Meanwhile, practical tests include objective examination, subjective examination, ophthalmic lens laboratory, clinical optometry and contact lens practice.

PREVIOUS EXAMS

Optometry is one of the programs with less number of examinees being administered by PRC.

On the same board exam conducted on July 2016, 112 out of 131 examinees passed. Centro Escolar University (CSU) - Manila was the only school in the top performing schools list having 58 out of 63 examinees passed or an overall passing rate of 92.06%.

Meanwhile, Tarrah Akeem Llanto Baluso from CSU - Manila ranked first in the exams garnering 85.99% rating followed by Jenno Subiera Lantaya from Mindanao Medical Foundation College having 85.95%.

During July 2015 Optometrist licensure exam, 105 examinees out of 114 passed. Centro Escolar University swept the first 9 spots of the top 10 list. Nikki Clarence Ong Sy ranked first having 89.83% rating.
