#WalangPasok: Palace declared September 18, 20, 21, 27, 29, 2017 Special Holiday in Selected Areas

MANILA, Philippines – MalacaƱang Palace through Proclamation Nos. 309, 308, 307, 306, 305 and 301 series of 2017 declared September 18, 20, 21, 27, 29, 2017 as special non-working days at selected areas due to celebrations of various important events.

Special non-working holidays are specifically declared on the following dates for their celebration of respective occasions.


METRO MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte is eyeing for declaring September 21, 2017 (Thursday) as special non-working day in Metro Manila for the 45th anniversary of Martial Law. As quoted from an interview aired at PTV,

This early, I am announcing that I am ordering a holiday para walang masaktan, walang ano kung may demonstration diyan, magkagulo. Walang trabaho ang gobyerno ‘yang araw na ‘yan at ang klase suspended. At lahat ng public places dito na gusto ninyong i-occupy, kunin ninyo

Update as of September 18, 2017: President Duterte clarified that September 21, 2017, the 45th Anniversary of Martial Law was not declared as holiday and just a “National day of Protest”. As quoted,

September 21 is not a holiday. I have declared it as a Day of Protest. All who want to stage protests against the government, police, military and everyone, come down here and launch a rally.

Update as of September 19, 2017: Presidential Secretary Ernesto Abella said that a Memo will be issued suspending work and classes nationwide. As quoted,

The acting Executive Secretary will issue a memorandum circular suspending work in government offices, both national and local, as well as classes in all public schools states colleges and universities

Meanwhile, cancellation of work and classes at private companies and schools will be at discretion of its officials.

Proclamation No. 309 – Special non-working day in the Municipality of Lobo, Batangas on September 27, 2017 (Wednesday) for the celebration of its 146th Founding Anniversary.

Proclamation No. 308 – Special non-working day in the Municipality of Malvar, Batangas on September 27, 2017 (Wednesday) for the celebration of 152nd birth anniversary of General Miguel Malvar.


Proclamation No. 307 – Special non-working day in the Municipality of San Mateo, Rizal on September 21, 2017 (Thursday) for the celebration of 446th Foundation Day of Municipality of San Mateo, Rizal

Proclamation No. 306 – Special non-working day on September 29, 2017 (Friday) in the Municipality of San Rafael, Bulacan for the celebration of its 267th Foundation day.

Proclamation No. 305 – Special non-working day on September 18, 2017 (Monday) in the City of Tacurong for the celebration of its 17th Cityhood Anniversary and the “Talakudong Festival 2017”.

Proclamation No. 301– Special non-working day on September 20, 2017 (Wednesday) in the Municipality of Dingras, Ilocos Norte for the celebration of birth anniversary of Josefa Llanes Escoda.


Palace said that it is but fitting and proper that the people from above-mentioned cities be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasions with appropriate ceremonies.
