    22. Mr. Reyes, an elementary school teacher in Science found out that many of his pupils got very high scores in the test. What measure of central tendency should he use to describe their average performance in the subject?
    a. Mean
    b. Median
    c. Mode
    d. Range

Shouldn't it be the MEAN? and not the MODE? Kindly enlighten please.

      We have thee same answer.

    • Rmaceda Jul 26, 2019 @ 13:35

I saw an explanation in YouTube that mean, median and mode are all actually used to compute for average. We are just so used to the thought that mean = average, but this is not exclusive as the two (median and mode) can also be considered average especially in a normal distribution where mean = median = mode. In this case, "many of his pupils got very high scores", it signifies the presence of outliers or extreme scores which could not present an accurate "average" score because some students may have very low scores as well. Therefore, median or the middle score is more accurate to determine the average for this scenario. I hope it makes sense. :)

    6. In a normal distribution, which of the following is true?
    a. median=mode=mean
    b. median≠mode=mean
    c. median≠mode≠mean
    d. Mean=median=mode

choice A is similar to choice D. All are equal

choice D is more appropriate, in terms of sequence..it should mean, median, mode

    • Rmaceda Jul 26, 2019 @ 13:29

I have heard that in LET exam, if the choices are the same, the correct answer is what comes first. In this case A.

can someone pls explain how to get the index of difficulty in 24? I'm confused… :/

    • Rmaceda Sep 6, 2019 @ 9:19

If I'm not mistaken, none of the above po ang answer diyan. :) Kasi the given were the upper and lower group which are actually use in questions for discrimination index. The upper group (upper 27%) and the lower group (lower 27%) only represents 54% (27+27) of the total difficulty index which is only .47. In order to get the remaining 46% of the total difficulty index. We can compute using fractional rotation with this formula:

      .47/54 = x/46
      x=.40

      Compute for total item difficulty:
.40 (from the computed 46% of item difficulty)
+.47 (from adding the weighted difficulty index (54%) from upper and lower groups)
      _____
      .87 (Total difficulty index)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is how I see it. :)
