‘Bagyong Josie’ Weather Update July 23, 2018 – PAGASA

MANILA, Philippines – “Bagyong Josie” is moving northwestward heading towards northwestern Taiwan. This is the latest weather update issued by PAGASA on July 23, 2018.

In PAGASA weather bulletin issued at 5:00 AM, the center of Tropical Depression “Josie” was estimated based on all available data at 475 km North Northeast of Basco, Batanes.

It has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph and is moving North Northeast at 20 kph.

At 4:00 AM today, a Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 1,230 km East of Southern Luzon (Outside PAR) and may develop into a Tropical Depression in the next 24 to 48 hours.

“Bagyong Josie” will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) today (July 23, 2018).

PAGASA warned that scattered to widespread moon rains are expected over  Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro, Palawan, and Western Visayas while occasional rains over Metro Manila, and the rest of Luzon and of Visayas.

Locals are advised to be cautious of possible disasters. To quote,

Residents living near river channels, in low-lying areas and in mountainous areas are advised to take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslide, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices and continue monitoring for updates.

Class suspensions were also announced at affected areas due to inclement weather conditions.

Likewise, sea travel remains risky over the northern seaboards of Northern Luzon.
