POSTPONED: LET March 2020, When is the new date of exams?

Manila, Philippines – The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) officially announced the postponement/suspension of Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) scheduled on March 2020.

This is in consonance with the Proclamation No. 922 signed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte declaring a State of Public Health Emergency throughout the Philippines and calling for the implementation of urgent, critical measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 922 dated 8 March 2020 declaring a state of public health emergency throughout the country, and the recommendations of the Department of Health (DOH) and Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF) to prohibit mass gatherings, and to further ensure the safety of the examinees and employees of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), the conduct of the following licensure examinations/assessments is hereby CANCELLED:

  • Qualifying Assessment for Foreign Medical Professionals
  • Physician Licensure Examination
  • Medical Technologists Licensure Examination
  • Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers
  • Licensure Examination for Electronic Engineers and Electronic Technicians
  • Licensure Examination for Midwives
  • Licensure Examination for Registered Electrical Engineers and Registered Master Electricians
  • Licensure Examination for Pharmacists

Correction: PRC in its official announcement used the term “Cancelled” instead of “Postponed”.

Update May 11, 2019: PRC has announced the new schedule for the above postponed board exams. 

Those applicants who already have filed their application for examination and issued the Notice of Admission (NOA) will no longer be required to file a new application.

Update April 2, 2020: In a recently released Frequenty Asked Questions (FAQs), PRC said that all licensure exams scheduled on March and April 2020, including LET are postponed. The public are advised to continuously monitor the PRC website and PRC official social media account for any updates regarding the re-scheduling of the postponed licensure exams.

MARCH 2020 LET RELATED ARTICLES

Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) is scheduled to take place on March 29, 2020 in National Capital Region/ Metro Manila and all Regional testing centers nationwide.

When will be the new/re-scheduled date of LET? This information will also be fed to the public as soon as PRC issued an official announcement.

On Tuesday, March 10, 2020, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) has already postponed the conduct of the Civil Service Exam (CSE) scheduled on March 15, 2020 following the proclamation of the President.

PRC PUBLIC ADVISORY

On February 24, 2020, PRC has issued a public advisory on Coronavirus Disease 2019. To quote,

“In support of the Department of Health (DOH) initiative to closely monitor the possible entry and local transmission of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the country, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) is currently implementing precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among its personnel and clientele”


“Before the entry to PRC premises, all guests shall be required to fill-out the Client Travel/ Medical History Checklist and body temperature check shall be conducted as a mandatory procedure.”

The Licensure Exam for Teachers or LET for March 2020 covered the following topics:

General Education (GenEd)

  • English – Study and Thinking Skills, Writing in the Discipline, Speech and Oral Communication, Philippine Literature and Master Works of the World
  • Filipino – Komunikasyon sa Akademikong Pilipino, Pagbasa at Pagsulat sa Panananaliksik at Masining na Pagpapahayag
  • Mathematics – Fundamentals of Math, Plane Geometry, Elementary Algebra and Statistics and Probability
  • Science – Biological Science – General Biology, Physical Science with Earth Science
  • Social Sciences – Philippine Government New Constitution with Human Rights, Philippine History, Basic Economics, Taxation, Agrarian Reform, Society, Culture with Family Planning; Rizal and other Heroes, Philosophy of Man, Arts, General Psychology and Information and Communication Technology

Professional Education (ProfEd)

  • Teaching Profession, Social Dimensions of Education
  • Principles of Teaching, Educational Technology and Curriculum Development
  • Facilitating Learning, Child and Adolescent Development
  • Assessment of Student Learning, Developmental Reading
  • Field Study and Practice Teaching

Specialized and concrete subjects were covered in the examinations for the field of specialization specifically in English, Filipino, Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Social Studies and Social Sciences, Values Education, MAPEH, Agriculture and Fishery Arts and Technology and Livelihood Education.

PREVIOUS LET

During September 2019 LET, 28,973 elementary teachers out of 92,440 examinees (31.34%) and 54,179 secondary teachers out of 136,523 examinees (39.68%) successfully passed. Kezia Keren Ambag from Philippine Normal University – Mindanao, Joshua Sebigan Canseco from Mindanao State University – General Santos City and Anjo Jurado Literatus from Saint Mary’s College – Tagum shared the top spot in Elementary Level having 92.60% rating. Marlou Pugoy Camano from University of Southern Mindanao – Kidapawan was the topnotcher in the Secondary Level having 93.40% rating. In the list of performing schools, University of Southeastern Philippines Tagum was the top performing in Elementary Level garnering 96.07% overall passing rate while University of the Philippines Los Baños in Secondary Level having 98.00%.

During March 2019 LET, 9,659 elementary teachers out of 72,054 examinees (27.28%) and 22,271 secondary teachers out of 85,823 examinees (25.95%) passed. The first two (2) spots in secondary level came from University of Mindanao – Davao City. Honey Gracielle Decosto Baclayo and Joseph Pre Enero, garnering a 93.40% and 92.80% respective ratings. In the elementary category, Stephanie Apple Miguel Pido from Compostela Valley State College – Montevista Branch ranked first having 93.20% rating followed by Emily Balagot Ligue from University of Mindanao – Davao City garnering 93.00%. UP Diliman was the top performing school in the secondary level having 90.77% overall passing rate while University of Southeastern Philippines – Tagum in Elementary level having 85.71%.

On September 2018 LET, 18,409 elementary teachers out of 90,750 examinees (20.29%) and 60,803 secondary teachers out of 126,582 examinees (48.03%) passed. Francis Dave Perez Cabanting from University of Southeastern Philippines in Davao City and Samuel John Estenor Parreño from University of Mindanao – Digos College shared the top spot in LET – Secondary level having 92.80% rating. In the elementary level, Rhea Joy Yes Genson from University of Southeastern Philippines from Davao City and Mariel Cataluña Saladaga from University of Southeastern Philippines – Tagum ranked first having 89.80%. In the list of best performing schools for LET September 2018, University of Santo Tomas ranked first in elementary level having an overall passing rate of 86.78%. In secondary level was University of the Philippines – Diliman having 94.19%.
