December 26, 2018 and January 2, 2019 are Not Holidays in the Philippines

Manila, Philippines – Reports recently circulated online claiming that the Malacañang Palace has declared December 26, 2018 and January 2, 2019 as official nationwide holidays for both private and public sectors.

While the public is still asking whether the news is legit and with strong basis, as of this writing, December 26, 2018 and January 2, 2019 are not officially declared regular holidays or special non-working days throughout the country.

In the list of official holidays written in the Proclamation No. 269 entitled “Declaring the Regular Holidays and Special (Non-Working) Days for the year 2018,  and Proclamation No. 555, entitled “Declaring the Regular Holidays and Special (Non-Working) Days for the Year 2019”, the above-mentioned dates are not included.
