The May 2026 National Assessment for School Heads (NASH) Batch 2 Results for Fiscal Year 2025, previously known as the Principal’s Test/ NQESH, are released by the Department of Education (DepEd) two (2) months after the assessment.
The Department of Education (DepEd) has released the results through the DepEd Memorandum No. 044, s. 2026,. The assessment was conducted simultaneously at 65 assessment sites nationwide through the DepEd Learning Management System (LMS) using a secure, locked-down testing environment.
DepEd announced that of the 23,994 registered assessment takers included in the official list, 23,848 (99.39%) successfully completed the assessment.
The NASH Batch 2 was conducted on May 17, 2026, following a mock assessment held on May 10, 2026. The examination was originally scheduled in March but was later rescheduled by DepEd through subsequent issuances.
8,771 Prospective Principal Candidates Identified
Of the 23,848 takers who successfully completed the FY 2025 NASH Batch 2 assessment, 8,771 were identified as prospective candidates for entry-level School Principal positions, representing approximately 36.78% of all assessment takers who completed the assessment.
The breakdown is as follows:
- 6,180 takers (25.91%) met the PPSSH standards in all four domains, making them prospective candidates for appointment as entry-level school principals, subject to DepEd’s qualification standards and hiring guidelines.
- 2,591 takers (10.86%) met the PPSSH standards in three domains. They are likewise considered prospective candidates but are required to complete a Targeted Development Program (TDP) facilitated by the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) within three months of appointment.
Meanwhile, 15,077 takers (63.22%) were classified as having Developmental Areas. These participants must first complete Professional Development Interventions (PDI) and the required Work Application Plan (WAP) before they may be considered for future appointment to entry-level school principal positions.

Multi-Level Scoring System Used
DepEd said examinees’ scores were determined using the Ordinal Partial Credit Model, which evaluates responses through a multi-level scoring approach.
The scoring process considered:
- Item Level – Individual responses scored from 0 to 3.
- Indicator Level – Scores standardized and converted to a 1–100 scale.
- Domain Level – Weighted average of indicator scores.
- Overall NASH Score – Weighted average of all domain scores, normalized to a 1–100 scale.
Competency Results
The assessment classified examinees into three competency levels:
1. Meeting PPSSH Standards in Four Domains
- Score requirement: Overall score of at least 65 and ratings of at least 65 in all four domains.
- Number of takers: 6,180 (25.91%)
- Status: Prospective candidates for entry-level School Principal positions, subject to existing qualification standards and hiring guidelines.
2. Meeting PPSSH Standards in Three Domains
- Number of takers: 2,591 (10.86%)
- Status: Also considered prospective candidates for entry-level principal positions but must complete a Targeted Development Program (TDP) through the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) within three months of appointment.
3. With Developmental Areas
- Number of takers: 15,077 (63.22%)
- Status: Required to undergo Professional Development Interventions (PDI) facilitated by NEAP. Candidates seeking future appointment must complete the PDI and submit a certified Work Application Plan (WAP) before they may be considered for principal positions.
Individual Results Available Online
DepEd announced that participants may access their Individual Certificate of Rating (ICOR) through the DepEd LMS using the same account used during the assessment.
Participants are advised to update their position title in their LMS profile before downloading their ICOR to ensure that the certificate reflects the correct designation.
About the National Assessment for School Heads (NASH)
The National Assessment for School Heads (NASH) is the Department of Education’s competency-based assessment for aspiring school leaders, principals and administrators.
The program was introduced as part of DepEd’s efforts to strengthen educational leadership and align school head assessment with the Philippine Professional Standards for School Heads (PPSSH) and the Expanded Career Progression System.
Many educators are more familiar with its predecessor, the National Qualifying Examination for School Heads (NQESH), commonly known as the “Principal’s Test.” NASH replaced NQESH as DepEd’s primary assessment mechanism for aspiring school heads.
Unlike the traditional qualifying examination, NASH focuses on assessing leadership competencies, management capabilities, and readiness for school leadership positions.

Qualification of Successful Examinees
Passing the NASH does not automatically result in appointment to a school head position.
Successful examinees must still comply with the qualification standards, ranking procedures, and other requirements prescribed by the Department of Education and the Civil Service Commission.
Applicants are advised to coordinate with their respective Schools Division Offices regarding subsequent procedures and documentary requirements.
Release of Results
As of this writing, DepEd has not announced the exact release date for the NASH Batch 2 FY 2025 results. Though it is expected to be released this June 2026.
