Government Employee Salary Increase by up to 45%: New SSL Proposal

MANILA, Philippines – House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte through a report of Rowena Salvacion in Super Radyo DZBB said that a new SSL or Salary Standardization Law was proposed to increase the salary of government employees.

As noted, this proposal will increase the salary of compensation for all salary grades by up to 45%. This means that an employee under the current Salary Grade 1 (taken from Executive Order 201 series of 2016) who is earning 11, 068 pesos will now earn 16, 048 pesos.

Aside from the increase will also include the 14th month pay, enhanced performance-based bonus over a four year period, from January 1, 2016 to January 1, 2019.

As quoted from the explanatory note of his proposal posted in GMA news,

Government personnel are given substantial duties and responsibilities that significantly impact the nation. Legislative action is urgently needed to allow the Government of the Republic of the Philippines to attract and retain the services of capable personnel in order to best serve the needs of the Filipino people.
