POSTPONED: MedTech Board Exam March 2020, When is the New Date of Exam?

Manila, Philippines – The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) officially announced the postponement/suspension of Medical Technology (MedTech) board exam scheduled on March 2020.

This is in consonance with the Proclamation No. 922 signed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte declaring a State of Public Health Emergency throughout the Philippines and calling for the implementation of urgent, critical measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Update as of November 5, 2020: The postponed March 2020 and August 2020 MedTech board exams will now be held on January 2021. See the complete news here.

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 922 dated 8 March 2020 declaring a state of public health emergency throughout the country, and the recommendations of the Department of Health (DOH) and Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF) to prohibit mass gatherings, and to further ensure the safety of the examinees and employees of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), the conduct of the following licensure examinations/assessments is hereby CANCELLED:

Correction: PRC in its official announcement used the term “Cancelled” instead of “Postponed”.

Update May 11, 2019: PRC has announced the new schedule for the above postponed board exams. 

Those applicants who already have filed their application for examination and issued the Notice of Admission (NOA) will no longer be required to file a new application.

MARCH 2020 MEDTECH BOARD EXAM RELATED ARTICLES

MedTech licensure exam is scheduled to take place on March 18 & 19, 2020 in NCR, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, Zamboanga.

On Tuesday, March 10, 2020, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) has already postponed the conduct of the Civil Service Exam (CSE) scheduled on March 15, 2020 following the proclamation of the President.

PRC PUBLIC ADVISORY

On February 24, 2020, PRC has issued a public advisory on Coronavirus Disease 2019. To quote,

“In support of the Department of Health (DOH) initiative to closely monitor the possible entry and local transmission of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the country, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) is currently implementing precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among its personnel and clientele”


“Before the entry to PRC premises, all guests shall be required to fill-out the Client Travel/ Medical History Checklist and body temperature check shall be conducted as a mandatory procedure.”

PREVIOUS MEDTECH EXAMS

In the most recent Medical Technologist board exams held on September 2019, 4,743 out of 6,453 (73.50%) examinees passed.  Reiven John Borbon Bernales from University of San Agustin clinched the top spot garnering a rating of 90.50% followed by Marichu Panceras Lomotos from Silliman University having 90.40%. Cebu Doctors University was the top performing school having 100% passing rate followed by Lyceum of the Philippines University – Batangas having 98.94%.

During March 2019 MedTech licensure exam, 2,801 out of 4,092 (68.45%) examinees passed. John Steward Buenavista Alberto from Cagayan State University – Andrews Campus and Zairah de Leon Monjardin from Far Eastern University – Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation shared the spot, both having 91.10% rating. In the top performing schools list, Cagayan State University – Andrews Campus and Adventist University of the Philippine ranked first having all of their examinees passed or 100% overall passing rate.

On September 2018, 4,718 out of 6,070 (77.73%) examinees passed. Lorenz Masajo Barro from University of Santo Tomas (UST) ranked first in the exams garnering a rating of 92.10% followed by Rolter Lorenz Mispeñas Lee also from UST having 91.80% and Eldy Villanoy Barrientos from University of Agustin having 91.70%. In the top performing schools, four (4) schools shared the top spot having 100% passing rate namely; Velez College, University of San Agustin, Trinity University of Asia and Saint Louis University.

    pwede ba mag pa transfer ng testing area since cancelled kasi ang board nakauwi nako sa province namin. baka pwede dun nalang kami mag take kasi Mindanao papo ako mangagaling and Manila yung first site na pinili ko. Sana po pwede mangyari and paki balitaan po sana din kami

    Wala pa po bang dates of exam this year for mtle?
