President Duterte picks Bahay Pangarap as Official Residence in Manila

MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte picks “Bahay Pangarap” as his official residence in Manila, according to the special assistant to the President, Christopher Go.

“Bahay Pangarap” is formerly a guest house located within the Malacanang Park but later was used as an official residence place of the former Philippine President, Benigno Aquino III.

Rodrigo Duterte initially told the media that he will not be staying at Malacanang and planned to stay at Davao City to enjoy the comforts of his bed and his old mosquito net.

Likewise, he doesn’t want to reside at the Malacanang Palace because of the “ghosts”, reports said.
As per gov.ph, “Bahay Pangarap” or “House of Dreams” has been part of the Malacanang since 1960s. Under the administration of Fidel V. Ramos, it was restored and become the club house of the Malacanang Golf Club. It was then inaugurated as the new “Bahay Pangarap” on March 15, 1996 mainly for recreational and social activities.

The historic “Bahay Pangarap” was remodeled in contemporary style by Architect Conrad Onglao replacing the old swimming pool and pergolas. It was then re-inaugurated under the administration of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo  at a Christmas reception for the cabinet.

Meanwhile, here are some of the photos of “Bahay Pangarap” courtesy of Malacanang Photo Bureau.
