#WalangPasok: Class Suspensions October 19, 2016 (Wednesday)

MANILA, Philippines – Class suspensions on October 19, 2016 (Wednesday) are announced at certain areas by Local Government Units (LGUs) due to effects of bad weather conditions brought by Typhoon “Lawin”.

As of 7:00 PM, below is the list of areas with class suspensions on Wednesday, October 19, 2016.


Metro Manila

Provinces

  • Apayao – All levels (Public and Private)
  • Baguio City – Kindergarten to Highschool (Public and Private)
  • Cagayan Province – All levels (Public and Private)
  • Catanduanes – All levels (Public and Private)
  • Isabela – All levels (Public and Private)
  • Iligan City – All levels (Public and Private)
  • Ilocos Norte – All levels (Public and Private)
  • San Fernando, La Union – Preschool (Public and Private)

Meanwhile, cancellation of classes for colleges and universities will be at discretion of school officials/ administrators.

PAGASA WEATHER UPDATE

According to PAGASA weather update issued at: 5:00 PM, 18 October 2016,

At 4:00 PM today, the eye of Typhoon “LAWIN” was located based on all available data at 930 km East of Tayabas, Quezon (15.4ºN, 130.1ºE)with maximum sustained winds of up to 185 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 25 kph.

Rains and gusty winds with moderate to rough seas will be experienced over the provinces of Cagayan including Calayan Group of Islands, over Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Polillo Islands and Catanduanes. Cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms will prevail over Eastern Visayas, CARAGA, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Southwest to West will prevail over Southern Luzon, Visayas, Northern Mindanao and CARAGA and from the Northeast to Northwest over the rest of Luzon. The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the Southwest to South with slight to moderate seas.

Signal No. 1 was already raised at the following areas: Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Cagayan including Calayan group of Islands, Batanes group of Islands, Isabela, Kalinga, Abra, Ilocos Sur, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, La Union, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, Catanduanes and Polillo Islands.
