LIVESTREAM: SONA 2017 of President Rodrigo Duterte

MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte will deliver his second State-of-the-Nation-Address (SONA) on July 24, 2017 (Monday) at Batasang Pambansa.

The SONA 2017 live streaming video below will be available in few hours, courtesy of RTV MalacaƱang. People’s Television Network (PTV) is also covering the event; live streaming video is embedded. Meanwhile, local mainstream media including TV5, GMA7, ABS-CBN, among others, are likewise expected to cover and stream the occasion.



Officials from the House of Representatives said that stricter security measures will be implemented at Batasang Pambansa. This is to prepare the area from all security threats including terrorism, protests, among others.

In a related report, Roland Detabali, Seargeant-At-Arms told the media that the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) will deploy 6,000 policemen to secure the event.

Anything can happen, kahit maliliit na grupo they can still create havoc kung gusto nila. In the last SONA, the protesters behaved, the leaders of the protesting groups were given by the President an opportunity to meet personally so they can air their concerns

The organizers said that the guests are expected to arrive as early as 1:00 PM though the session hall will be opened at 2:00 PM. President Duterte is expected to arrive around 2:30 PM while his speech will commence at exactly 4:00 PM.

Like the Presidents’ SONA last year, attendees are discouraged to wear evening gowns. The dress code for the event is business attire or barong tagalog for men and Filipiniana for women.

Classes at all levels in Quezon City have already been suspended on July 24, 2017 as part of the preparations.
